Social Meets
From autumn 2008, the Social Meets programme will be carried out in collaboration with the ABMSAC, AAC, Fell and Rock, and the Rucksack clubs.
All
the lectures will take place at the Chadwick
Street Recreation Centre (CSRC) in on a WEDNESDAY as listed below. (Prior to this programme, the TCC will hold two additional social meets over the summer 2008 - NB the day!) |

Entry to the CSRC is free to TCC Members and guests. Talks start at 7.30 in an upper floor meeting room (check room name and floor with Reception on arrival). Meals, served between 4:00pm to 8:15pm, and drinks can be purchased very reasonably in the cafeteria and bar on the first floor. The nearest Tube station is St.James's Park (Circle and District Lines). On-street parking
is free after |

Meetings
will usually take the form of an invited speaker with or without an
accompanying slide show. Topics in the past have ranged from trekking
and climbing in the In addition, the social meets are an ideal way of getting to meet people for the first time and of course to find out about, and plan, travel arrangements for the forthcoming trips away. |

Weds 15 October 2008 :- "The Antarctic Peninsula" by Gaeron Davies, TCC. Gaeron will show pictures of the ice (before it all melts) and the inhabitants of the area (particularly the penguins) seen when travelling towards the Antarctic Circle.

Weds 14 January 2009 :- "Chile - Travels in Thin Country" by Richard Wilkins, AAC.
Weds 11 February 2009 :- "ABMSAC 2007 Trek in Everest Region " by Hugh Chapman, ABMSAC.
Weds 11 March 2009 :- "Ascent of Aconcagua in the Cordillera Andes in Argentina" by Richard Morgan, FRCC. Richard will give an illustrated talk on the first British expedition allowed into Argentina after the Falklands War.
