Social Meets

The Social Meets programme is now being carried out

in collaboration with the

ABMSAC, AAC, Fell and Rock, and the Rucksack clubs

on a WEDNESDAY evening as listed below.

 

All the lectures will take place at the Chadwick Street Recreation Centre (CSRC) in Chadwick Street, London, SW1E 2EP

 

Entry to the CSRC is free to TCC Members and guests. Talks start at 7.30 in an upper floor meeting room (check room name and floor with Reception on arrival).

Meals, served between 4:00pm to 8:15pm, and drinks can be purchased very reasonably in the cafeteria and bar on the first floor.

Chadwick Street is off the Horseferry Road, Victoria, central London, and the CSRC is behind the modern steel and glass Channel 4 Television HQ building. For a more detailed street map, go to multimap .

The nearest Tube station is St.James's Park (Circle and District Lines).

On-street parking is free after 6:30pm - the congestion charge applies only until 6:00pm.

 

Meetings will usually take the form of an invited speaker with or without an accompanying slide show. Topics in the past have ranged from trekking and climbing in the Himalayas to a whistle stop tour of the geology of the Lake District.

In addition, the social meets are an ideal way of getting to meet people for the first time and of course to find out about, and plan, travel arrangements for the forthcoming trips away.

Members of other clubs, and guests, are welcome.

Weds 8 September 2010 :- An additional TCC organised meet. “Winter ice climbing”- a talk by TCC member Peter Hollington

Weds 13 October 2010 :- ABMSAC – Charles Clarke on (subject to be announced)

Weds 10 November 2010 :- TCC – Alan Jackson and Sarah Bridge on mountain biking in high places

Weds 15 December 2010 :- AAC – Alun Price-Davies on various Hutting Tours run by Ramblers’ Holidays, particularly Austria.

Weds 12 January 2011 :- To be arranged

Weds 9 February 2011 :- FRCC – Stewart Fisher on “Some African Hills and Mountains – Zambia, Kenya and the Cape”.

Weds 9 March 2011 :- . RC – Dominic Orton & Bill Deakin on climbing ‘The Shield’ at Yosemite
